About :
National
Seeds Corporation Ltd. (NSC) is one of the first companies in the organised
seed sector which was set up in March’ 1963 to function as a foundation seed
producer, stockist and supplier of different seeds. During the last 55 years,
it has travelled a long distance and today NSC along with 17 other seed
producing companies in the Government sector produce about 48% of the total
certified/ quality seeds in the country. The balance 52% is being produced by
various private seed companies including several MNCs. During 2014, the State
Farms Corporation of India Ltd. (SFCI), another CPSE got merged with NSC and at
present NSC is implementing its objective of quality Seed production of
different Crop/Varieties depending on the Agro-climatic conditions, at its
Farms as well as through its Farmer Seed Growers throughout the Country during
all the Seasons i.e. Kharif, Rabi and Summer throughout the year. NSC is
continuously concentrating in the recent years on various infrastructure
facilities especially at its Farms, to have sustainable growth since the
business of NSC entirely depends on the climatic conditions prevailing during
various seasons. The growth of NSC during the last seven to eight years has
been quite impressive. Detailed financial position is available under separate
head "Financial Performance" in the website. The total Revenue and
Net Profit during the Year 2017-18 was Rs. 841.55 Crores and Rs. 24.98 crores
respectively.
